The Tulunid waterwheel

The Tulunid waterwheel is one of only five buildings that remain from the Tulunid era 868 – 905 (Although some refer to the more recent era of the Fatimids) It was common to have structures like these consisting of a well and a waterwheel to produce water to the neighborhood, but as far as I understand, this is the only one that remains..

The other Tulunid buildings that remain are Ibn Tulun mosque, Ibn Tulun aqua duct, a fountain, and the remains of a house.

The structure is left to crumble, although it is registered in the Supreme Council of Antiquities by number 432
